Mobile app end-user licence agreement · Version 15 September 2026
We are Sociera Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15247646) whose registered office is at Leonard House, 5-7 Newman Road, Bromley, Kent BR1 1RJ (we, us or Sociera).
You must be 18 or over to create or use a Sociera account. By creating an account or using Sociera, you confirm that you are at least 18. We use the date of birth you provide to enforce this rule and may suspend or close an account if we reasonably believe that the information is inaccurate or that the account is being used by a person under 18.
By creating an account or using Sociera, you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy and our Community Guidelines. We record the version of these terms and the time at which you accept them. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use Sociera.
1. Licence and app stores
1.1 We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use Sociera on a device you own or control, solely for your own non-commercial use and subject to these terms.
1.2 The Apple App Store or Google Play rules (as applicable) also apply. If there is a conflict between those rules and these terms, the app-store rules prevail to the extent required by them.
1.3 You must not copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, attempt to extract source code from, rent, lease, sublicense, distribute or make Sociera available to anyone else, except to the extent that applicable law does not permit that restriction.
1.4 Sociera and all rights in it (other than User Content) belong to us or our licensors.
1.5 Apple and Google are not parties to these terms and are not responsible for providing support or maintenance for Sociera. To the extent permitted by applicable law, they have no obligation to deal with any claim relating to Sociera. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
2. Age requirement
2.1 You must be 18 or over to create or use a Sociera account. By creating an account or using Sociera, you confirm that you are at least 18. We may suspend or close your account if we reasonably believe that you are under 18 or that the date of birth you provided is inaccurate.
3. Technical requirements, support, updates, account security
3.1 Sociera is available for compatible iOS and Android devices. The applicable store page states the current technical requirements. You are responsible for your device, internet connection and network charges.
3.2 Contact us at support@sociera.com or through the support area in Sociera. We may contact you by email, SMS (where you use a phone-number login) or in-app notification.
3.3 We may provide updates, including security updates. You may need to install them to continue using Sociera. We may change, suspend or withdraw features where reasonably necessary, including for security, legal, technical or operational reasons. Where a change materially and adversely affects your use, we will give reasonable notice where practicable.
3.4 You are responsible for keeping your device and the email address, mobile number or third-party sign-in account used to access Sociera secure. Do not allow anyone else to use your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
4. Privacy
4.1 Our Privacy Policy explains how we process personal data. Sociera may process device, diagnostic and usage information to operate, secure and improve the app.
4.2 Certain features need permission to use location, camera, microphone, photo library, contacts or notifications. Permission is optional, but the relevant feature will not work if you decline or withdraw it.
5. Location and safety controls
5.1 If you allow location access, Sociera uses location while the app is in use, and not in the background. Location features may show your name and profile photo to other users at the visibility levels explained in the app: within approximately 500 metres, your full name and photo may be visible; between approximately 500 metres and 10 kilometres, non-connections may see only a blurred/initials view and connections may see your full profile; beyond approximately 10 kilometres you are not shown.
5.2 You can use Ghost Mode, Ghost Mode Near Home and the approximate-location setting. Blocking a user removes both of you from each other’s map and relevant lists. Location data and the map are not a safety service and may be inaccurate, delayed or unavailable.
5.3 Use care when sharing location or meeting anyone. We do not carry out background checks or verify every user’s identity, and cannot guarantee the safety or conduct of another user. In an emergency, contact the emergency services, not Sociera.
6. Contacts
6.1 If you give permission, Sociera accesses the phone number of contacts on your device to help identify people you may know. We send contact identifiers to our backend only to perform matching against existing Sociera accounts and relevant membership/friendship status. We do not retain your contact list after that matching process. Do not use this feature to send unsolicited communications.
7. Acceptable use and Community Guidelines
7.1 You must comply with our Community Guidelines and must not use Sociera to post, send, share, promote or facilitate illegal content or activity; threaten, harass, stalk, exploit or abuse another person; post hateful, violent, sexually exploitative, deceptive, defamatory or infringing material; impersonate another person; send spam or unsolicited commercial communications; collect user data without authority; use bots, scrapers or other automated means without our permission; introduce malware; interfere with Sociera or attempt unauthorised access; or use Sociera in a way that is unsafe, unlawful or infringes another person’s rights.
7.2 You must not post personal information about another person unless you have a lawful basis to do so. You must not use location features to track or harass anyone.
8. User Content and messaging
8.1 You retain ownership of photos, videos, text, comments, messages, profile information and other material you create, upload, send or otherwise submit to Sociera (User Content). You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt only as technically necessary, display, distribute and make your User Content available to other users as necessary to operate, promote and improve Sociera, in accordance with your selected audience setting and these terms. The licence ends when content is deleted from our active systems, except where another user has shared it, it remains in a private archive, or retention is needed for a legal, safety, dispute or enforcement reason.
8.2 You confirm you have the necessary rights and permissions for User Content and that it complies with these terms and the Community Guidelines.
8.3 Direct and Society messages are not end-to-end encrypted. We do not carry out automated pre-screening of User Content at launch. We may access, preserve, review or disclose User Content where reasonably necessary to investigate a report, enforce these terms, protect users or Sociera, comply with law or respond to a valid legal request.
8.4 You can unsend a message or delete content using the functions in Sociera. This may not remove copies already seen, saved, reposted or shared by other users.
9. Reporting, complaints and enforcement
9.1 You can report content, profiles or conduct that you believe is illegal or breaches these terms using the reporting tools in Sociera or by contacting support@sociera.com. Reports are not disclosed to the reported user.
9.2 We review reports under our Community Guidelines. We may remove or restore content, issue a warning, restrict an account, suspend or ban a user, or take no action. Where we take action that materially affects your content or account, we will normally tell you in-app and give reasons, unless doing so would be unlawful or create a safety, security or fraud risk.
9.3 If you think we have made a mistake about your report, content or account, you may appeal through the route stated in the decision notice or the Safety Centre. We will review the appeal fairly.
9.4 We may preserve content, account data and reports, and provide information to law enforcement or other authorities, where reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect people or investigate misuse.
10. Changes to this agreement
10.1 We may change these terms where reasonably necessary for legal, security, technical or operational reasons, or to reflect changes to Sociera. We will give reasonable advance notice of material changes and, where appropriate, ask you to accept them before they take effect. If you do not agree, you may stop using Sociera and delete your account. Changes will not retrospectively reduce rights you have already accrued.
11. Third-party services
11.1 Sociera uses third-party services, including app stores, sign-in providers, mapping and place-data providers, video and image delivery providers, analytics, crash reporting and push-notification providers. Their services may be subject to separate terms and privacy notices. We are not responsible for services we do not control, but this does not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
12. Our responsibility to you
12.1 We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for breach of statutory consumer rights.
12.2 Subject to clause 12.1, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable, for business losses, or for failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
12.3 We do not guarantee that Sociera will always be available, uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or that location information or User Content will be accurate.
13. Ending your use of Sociera
13.1 You may stop using Sociera and delete your account at any time using the in-app account-deletion function.
13.2 We may suspend or end your account where you breach these terms or our Community Guidelines, we reasonably believe there is a safety, security, fraud or legal risk, or we are required to do so by law. We will give notice and reasons where appropriate, subject to clause 8.
14. Other important terms
14.1 We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation, but this will not affect your rights.
14.2 No one other than you and us has rights under these terms.
14.3 If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest remains effective.
14.4 These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You may bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom in which you live. Nothing limits mandatory rights that apply in your country of residence.
